Yeah, yeah, we know: #iwokeuplikethis might have had overstayed its welcome, but there is something to be said for having a light hand when it comes to your makeup every now and then. And we fully realize it does in fact take makeup to achieve the no-makeup look. Our aim is for you to do it in 5 products, some of which can do double duty. Read on to look au natural.
Start with a good, lightweight moisturizer
This is step is crucial. Starting your makeup routine with a good base is the best thing you can do for your face. Your makeup will glide more evenly over your skin, and it won’t have that cake-y effect we all have encountered at some point. Be sure to get your neck, too, as this is one of the first places we start to show our age!
Pick a low – medium coverage liquid foundation
This step is all about your personal preference. Depending on whatever skin concerns you might have, you may want a foundation with more coverage. We’ve found that liquid covers our pores better, and just glides over skin easier. Want a top-model hack? When using liquid foundation, blend it downwards, either with your fingertips or a beauty blender. This will eliminate any face fuzz from becoming prominent. We love Urban Decay’s weightless foundation featured above, but another great choice that makeup artists love is Maybelline Dream Fresh 8-in-1 Beauty Balm.
Bronze and Highlight
Using either a beauty blender or an angled blush brush, sweep your bronzer along your cheekbones, starting at your temples and moving inward. Next brush it lightly across your hairline, the sides of your nose, and on your jawline. This isn’s a full-on contour, it’s more of a dusting of color. With your highlighter, dab lightly on the bridge of your nose, your cupid’d bow above your lips, and the center of your chin. This will give you a dewy look that’s not at all shiny.
Eyebrows, Eyeshadow, Mascara, and Gloss
Now, time for the finishing touches. Groom and define your brows (especially helpful if you have non-existent ones), and dust on a coppery shadow with a rounded brush, going into the crease of your lid. Just a light sweep of color is all you want. Follow with the mascara, giving a generous coat on the top lashes. ‘No Makeup’ look or not, we never skimp on the mascara. It makes your eyes pop! Lastly, finish with a nude gloss, to enhance your natural lip color.
